I discovered yoga by accident my freshman year of college at CU after a friend invited me to a hot yoga class. After being fully shocked at how much I was capable of sweating, I was completely hooked! My mind experienced a sense of quiet focus in that hour that I had never experienced prior. I fell in love with the fully internal challenge of shaping one's mind through moving one's body and controlling the breath. I have carried this practice with me for the past 15 years and it has been the single biggest contributor to my mental well-being, health and will power. After several years of solely practicing Hot Yoga, I branched out to Vinyasa and Hatha styles during my graduate studies at UC Davis. Since graduating with an MS in Biological Engineering, I have been a scientist in the sustainable biotechnology realm. While the mission of creating fully recyclable bioplastics was fulfilling, I found myself longing for a career rooted in human connection. After the birth of my daughter in April of 2023, I decided to take the terrifying plunge and quit that career path to become a full time yoga instructor and ceramics artist. There is nothing more inspiring than the arrival of a new life!
My teaching is fueled by symbiotic enlightenment yoga allows: I can make the tools of yoga that I have found so useful available to others and in turn, they constantly broaden my understanding of humanity and the world. While my scientific background informs my teaching, I bring a light-hearted approach to my classes where students can playfully experiment with their bodies.
